We often talk about the effects of the Indian Wars, Forced Assimilation, Boarding Schools and failed US Indian Policies have had on our people but what we seem to have forgotten was how traumatic the loss of the horse was.
1881 Sitting Bull and the Hunkpapa returned to the United States from Canada. Their horses were confiscated. This session will focus on the trauma created and our efforts to repatriate our ancestral horses now known as the Nokota Horse.
